China’s Ministry of Finance announced March earned RMB10.5b ($1.5b), a 70% drop from the same month the previous year. Despite the downturn, operators are slowly coming back after the pandemic shutdowns. While lotteries suffered losses during the 105-day lockdown, with February bringing in only RMB1m, March was the more successful month for Q1.
Beijing is the last region to resume lottery operations, and while sales are slow after a protracted lockdown, operators remain hopeful.
